The Diversity Immigrant Visa Program allows up to 50,000 immigrants to gain visas through a random drawing each year. There are specific instructions for those who want to be eligible for the Diversity Immigration program with strict rules.
The rules for applying for a Diversity Immigrant Visa are very strict.
You can only enter at a specific time
The normal entry period for filing a Diversity Immigrant application is from the beginning of October to the beginning of November in any given year. Outside of this time, they will deny your application.
You must submit your application electronically
They will not accept any application on paper. If you do not submit your application electronically, the Department of State will deny it.
You can only submit one application
Submitting more than one application per individual will result in all applications them denying all of your applications. There is software in place that detects multiple applications.
You must be from a specific country
Every year, the Department of State issues a list of eligible countries. They compose the list from countries with historically low immigration rates.
You must meet the education/experience requirements
You must have at least two years of work experience, which requires at least two years of training or the equivalent of a high school education. The education requirement requires at least 12 years of formal education.
The Diversity Immigrant Visa program is one way to gain legitimate entry into the United States. There are many others if your application is not on that the Department of State picks.
